Post-renovation cleaning in Śródmieście, Lodz

A renovation in a central tenement leaves behind something different from a renovation in a block. Not only gypsum dust but also lime dust from exposed plaster, shavings from sanded parquet and flakes of old oil paint from the walls. Each of those materials is collected differently.

Parquet after sanding

This is the most delicate element of the whole job. A freshly lacquered floor reaches full hardness only after several days, and during that time it must not be washed wet: water under the lacquer film leaves permanent dull patches. We take the dust off it dry with a filtered vacuum and postpone washing until the date given by the floor contractor. We say so when arranging the appointment, because it changes the order of work.

Stucco and cornices

Rosettes, mouldings and cornices collect dust in every profile and are at the same time brittle, often made of plaster a hundred years old. We do not scrub them; we vacuum from above with a soft brush and wipe selectively. We do not touch detached or cracked sections and we report them to the owner.

Box windows after renovation

We count them by sash at 50 zł, not by opening: an old window has two layers, meaning four panes, and after painting work each of them tends to be splashed. On top of that comes the space between the sashes, where most of the dust settles. In a typical flat on Piotrkowska with four windows that comes to 400 zł, and it is better to know that before ordering.

Price

Post-renovation space costs 6 zł per square metre with a minimum order of 200 zł. A sixty-metre flat is 360 zł plus windows. With high ceilings the work grows, since the wall surface is half as large again as in a block of the same size, so for units above three and a half metres we quote individually.

Where we travel

Katedralna, the area around Piotrkowska, Nowe Centrum Łodzi, Księży Młyn and the tenements along the side streets. Parking can be difficult, so please tell us whether the building has a gate or a courtyard; we carry equipment from the car and with no parking space that takes an extra quarter of an hour.

What we do not do

We do not remove rubble or material bags, we do not take paint off parquet with caustic products, we do not remove mortar residue from facing brick and we do not work at height outside the interior of the unit.

Dust comes back for a day

In a tall room it stays airborne longer than in a block, because it has more space. A day after the clean a thin layer can appear on the sills and it is not a sign of poor work. With a full renovation it makes more sense to order one thorough clean after the works and an ordinary visit a week later than to pay the full rate twice.

Yes, both have to be working in the unit.

How long does it take?
